What is interesting is in the most obvious place to us stands a ruin–an unused elevator that seems out of place in this bustling building; more symbolically, a bright yellow colored caution line–which is also usually found in real ruin sites–cuts it into two parts, signaling its state of shock and becoming a symbol of the abstract ruin it has become.

In the original idea of this project, the wall where the elevator is located would be utilized as my attempt to emphasize its texture and the memory it carries; as the iconic object that makes it a ruin, I would also reorganized the caution line into the text “We’re RE-ORGANIZING this ELEVATOR”. It would be the sign for its maintenance process but also a declaration of my project, which is recreating an unused object.

Due to the safety policy of the building I’m unable to set my installation as my original idea goes. It became a ruined idea and I recorded its unfinished appearance as a retrospection. The installation now is in an empty corridor, representing the reorganization of the artwork itself.
